Join author Sophfronia Scott as she discusses the book she wrote with her son, Tain Gregory, about the faith journey which began when Tain asked to enroll in Sunday school. The book looks at how a parent can help a child have a real faith as they engage in deep conversations, pray together, and get involved in the life of their local church. Tain’s mom realizes the depth of her son’s faith when he is in third grade and loses a close friend in the Sandy Hook school shootings. Shortly afterward, he is asked what the most important thing in the world is to him and he replies “God.” Sophfronia Scott lives with her husband and son in Sandy Hook, Connecticut, and serves as an acolyte, chalice minister and librarian at Trinity Episcopal Church in Newtown. Sophfronia teaches creative writing at Regis University’s Mile High MFA and Bay Path University’s MFA in Creative Nonfiction. She is author of the novels “All I Need to Get By” (St. Martin’s Press) and “Unforgivable Love” (William Morrow) as well as an essay collection, “Love’s Long Line” (Ohio State University Press), and a spiritual memoir, ”A Child of Faith: Raising a Spiritual Being in a Secular World” (Paraclete Press), co-written with her son.
